Learning Outcomes and Application | The unit applies to processes applied to textile products after production operations are completed. Processes may include operations such as printing, coating, tumbling, brushing, rolling, pressing, decoclaving, padding, mending and other operations designed to achieve a specific effect on textile products. This unit includes the preparation, operation, monitoring and adjusting of machines and equipment used in finishing processes.This unit does not cover packaging and folding processes and equipment used to prepare textile products for despatch or distribution. These skills are covered in a separate unit. Dyeing operations are also covered in a separate unit.Work is conducted according to defined procedures.Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team activities.The application of this unit is according to OHS practices of the enterprise and workplace practices, which may include:requirements prescribed by legislation, awards, agreements and conditions of employmentstandard operating procedureswork instructionsoral, written and visual communicationquality practices, including responsibility for maintenance of own work quality and contribution to quality improvement of team or section outputhousekeepingtasks related to environmental protection, waste disposal, pollution control, and recyclingThis unit requires the application of skills associated with planning and organising for the safe and efficient use of finishing machines and equipment. This unit also requires the ability to check the quality of products, identify and communicate inconsistencies or other problems and complete workplace documentation. Self management skills are applied to ensure workplace and quality standards are achieved. | ||
